Report date: October 9, 2016

Commodore's speech

Hello again, pilots of the ISD-II Hammer.

This week sees the end of week 1 of the October Onslaught. This week also saw the arrival of a new pilot, welcome to you, SL Nathan Cole.

Reminder: I'm still in need of MSEs to complete my MShipE!

As you may have heard, the COO has decided to end his tenure in the office, which is bad for us since we will lose our Alpha Commander as LC Silvius will succeed him. Good luck to you in your new assignment! However, this means I will be looking for a new Alpha Commander, as you have read in one of my many emails this week. Applications are open until next Sunday!

As you may have picked up, the TAC has gone on an unexpected LoA that will last at least a few weeks. I'll be taking over some of his duties for the time being.

Unfortunately, once again this week, I again fouhnd myself with a serious lack of time to do any gaming. Ayayayay. And it is becoming a trend.

That ends this report, as there is apparantly something called an "onstacle run" for which I seemingly signed myself up for today. I may survive, I may not. You will know tomorrow when the trivia question does or does not go out....

Wing Commander's Corner

Well, more than 2 people are playing trivia. Still, I am not satisfied as their number is way too low. As for the rest....

7 Degrees of separation has 5 submissions, but the flying task only has 2 submission! I do hope to see more on this week's assignment!

    Dempsey's Weekly Screenshots

Every week, the report will have a screenshot. First pilot to send the correct answer to the mailing list wins. Each victory earns you an IS-BR. Unless it's a 5th victory, you then get a IS-SR. Unless it's a 10th victory, which gives you an IS-GR. A 25th victory will give you an IS-PR!

    October Onslaught

    In general

Everything that has to do with time will be issued via the TC website (you must be logged in to access the appropriate page). Your time will start when you open the page, and will end when you submit your solution. Bear in mind that you can only submit your solution ONE TIME, because you won't be able to access the submission form again. You can, however, close your browser window between opening the page and submitting your solutions. In total, I am olffering up 2x IS-GW, 5x IS-SW, 5x IS-BW, 4x IS-GR, 7x IS-SR, 11x IS-BR, so there's plenty of chances to grab yourself at least one of these 35 medals!

  • assignments given via the TC website should be submitted via the website
  • assignments given via e-mail should be submitted via e-mail but only to me, and not to the ISDII Hammer mailing list!

    Flying

4 weeks - 4 flying tasks. As usual with me, I won't be going for "best of the best" or "high score" since that seriously limits the chances of most pilots. Instead, the goal will be something achievable by all!

  • week 1:
  • Star Conflict PvP Efficiency - FINISHED
  • week 2:
  • TIE Fighter points - fly TIE free 55 and get as close as you can to 5555 points
  • week 3:
  • Star Conflict PvE Kills - details TBA
  • week 4:
  • TIE Fighter kills - details TBA

    Non-flying

4 weeks - 4 different tasks that have nothing to do with flying!

  • week 1:
  • Seven Degrees of Separation - FINISHED
  • week 2:
  • Music Video screenscots - identify as many of these music videos: go to the test here
  • week 3:
  • Flash Game Victory - details TBA
  • week 4:
  • Riddle me this, Dempsey - details TBA

    Fiction

For this comnpetition, you will have the entirety of the month, so no 4 different fictions, that would be asking too much :)

Objective: write a fiction between 1500 and 5000 words (no joke - you are limited). Also, in some way, the fiction should be about one of the Hammer's expeditions for the TIE Corps. Be sure to highlight your own role in this expedition. I don't care if it's exploration, defense of the Empire, expansion, pirates or New Republic, it's your choice.

    Trivia

you will receive a trivia question in your e-mail each day. 3 points for the 1st correct answer, 2 points for the second correct answer, 1 point for every other correct answer. Weeks begin on the 1st, 9th, 16th and 23rd.

    Medal Structure

First off, there's a points structure: the week's winner earns two points, every other qualifying participant earns 1 point.

  • The flying competition will yield:
an IS-SW and IS-BW for the top 2 pilots each week
an overall IS-GW/SW/BW for the top 3 pilots over the month
a bonus IS-GW if 1 pilot wins all 4 weeks
  • The non-flying competition will yield:
an IS-SR and IS-BR for the top 2 pilots each week
an overall IS-GR/SR/BR for the top 3 pilots over the month
a bonus IS-GR if 1 pilot wins all 4 weeks
  • The trivia competition will yield:
an IS-BR for the top pilot each week
an overall IS-GR/SR/BR for the top 3 pilots over the month
a bonus IS-GR if 1 pilot wins all 4 weeks
  • The fiction co mpetition will yield:
an IS-GR/SR/BR for the top 3 fictions
The COM will submit all fictions to the Warden and the Editor (which should give a LoA)
