Tempest Blown with the Wind #9 Jul 29, MMIX Loading IO.SYS... < Salute, pilots from Wing X, Wing Commander Domi , Commodore TBA (¿?) and last but not least TIE Corps Commander Viper Pred >
Welcome to this, my ninth Weekly Report for my beloved Squadron, the mighty Tempest! The Mighty Tempest, "The Riders on the Storm". Errr... what can I say? Seems this """"weekly"""" report comes a little bit overdue, I know. About, errr... (*ahem*) 2 months (*ahem* *tjjjo*). Therefore, I think it's trivial to tell that I have about a ton of info to include here for you all to be aware of what has being going on all this time. ^_^u Yes, trivial, but hang me twice from the Chal shield generator domes for each and every inch of motivation I have to do so. Oh well, seems I have no choice but to play the role of your personal broadcaster for a few hours and that's what I'm gonna do. But later don't tell I didn't warn you... ...for I bring you...
MADNESS...
After being with us for some months, since the very day Tempest Squadron was reopened after the last MEGA-BIG-FAT TIE Corps Restructure, Commander Dunta Polo, deranged pilot who took as his main hobby to keep stealing each and every title available on Wing X, that cockpit-headed champion, the most active pilot this Wing has seen since LT Xgmx was kind enough to pay a visit to hell (just kidding ;-P) and definitely one of the most dedicated officers I ever had the pleasure to meet, decided to tempt his luck on Wing XXI as Green CMDR and left us. I won't go here on what was his luck on his new ToD for that does not belong here, but I'll just state what it becomes obvious whenever you take a look at the SP Kill Board: we're already missing his impressive flying activity. Dunta, we wish you the best luck wherever you go, but remember we'll keep you a spot on our Wing if you ever decide to return, as long as we have spots available. And if we don't we could always kill Lt. Commander Sergeyli... (kidding, just kidding again... ^_^u). Not necessary to mention he fled with the Tempest Pilot of the Month title for June. And now, now we have a new Flight Leader commanding "Heralds of Maelstrom". No other than Commander John T. Clark, former Tempest 2-3, commands now our Flight II after having scared his CMDR, threatening him with the chance of seeing his inbox sinking under myriads of senseless fictions by his own hand... on a daily basis... Feel free, gentlemen, of forwarding the good Commander your congrats, for I'm pretty sure he'll do an excellent work on that spot. And please somebody steal him his keyboard before it's too late! :___D (exactly, kidding again. Surprise!) And now what has been the best news entry for the whole Wing since Colonel Dan came crying us a river 'cos some cruel soul broke his guitar when he was not looking (not necessary to keep thanking me about it, folks ;-)): Sub-Lieutenant Chris Pape, one of the last... CADETS!!! (true story) to graduate on M/PLT Daedalus has joined the ranks of "The Dark Whisper" and "The Riders on the Storm" assigned as Tempest 2-3. Was that enough for him? Of course not! For he decided to get rid of his welcoming party hangover passing IWATS Courses as if there'd be no tomorrow, which granted him a fast-as-light promotion to full Lieutenant and his first medal ever. The unbelievable! Lieutenant Pape, it's a pleasure to have you among us. We'll do the best for you to feel proud of being recognized as one of our Riders (no, I don't know what the hell we will do either, but we will do -something- ok? >:-P)! For the time being be ready to waste your first LT payment on all the booze we were kind enough to dispatch at your health, not to mention the havoc we unchained at Wing X Cantina. Don't panic, classic Wing traditions. ;-D And the guy flew his first battle a day after... FEAR. General Domi informed the Wing, through our mailing list, that he has no chance but to keep taking LoA after LoA due to heavy RL time constraints. He'll be there to manage the important stuff in the long-term, but maybe a little bit disappeared on the day-to-day operations. So, in case any of you need our Wing Commander for something you have but 3 choices: either you wait the good old General to come around OR you can contact the Strategic Operations Officer (SOO) directly OR you can just contact your CMDR, and rest assured he'll do as much as possible to fulfill your desires, as long as his authority comes to be high enough and your desires are not as sick as he thinks they are. ^_^u Sadly, that also means that the long announced "Wing Commander's Own" competition may need to be delayed until Palpatine knows when. Either that or the good General contacts Major MAJOR MAJOR Palermo or myself to run it in his behalf. Well, don't panic that if such blasphemy finally takes place you'll know about in due time. There're rumours, rumours, rumours... rumours everywhere! About the TIE Corps facing YET ANOTHER Roster change for the sakes of improving overall activity within the Fleet. You might have heard about shrinking our already dismaying number of active ships and squadrons, about kicking down WCs and CMDRs to lower positions in order for the thing to fit, about a killing Super-AWOL check which would mean the demise of those who ONLY responds to such AWOL checks, about VA Pred paying all drinks, Conker being killed, Rapier and Mav returning to youth, Stryfe becoming useful and other miracles. But I tell you this instead, heed my words: No matter what changes may come, all them will have been considered and balanced about a thousand times, not to mention discussed with those from the higher echelons downwards to CMDRs themselves. And all for what? For the sakes of the TIE Corps Fleet as a whole. To improve activity and participation. To try and do whatever possible to keep all this alive. In one word, gentlemen, believe it or not, agree with it or not, all this will be done FOR YOU. And what would be the best way to improve activity here, you may be wondering? Heh... next time give me a harder one. With yet another of our flying-fiction-graphic-bells&whistles super Tempest competition! How else?! Therefore, your daily source of bitter trouble (aka. CMDR) brings you... "On the Verge of Epic"!!! All ye are hereby called to choose and fly one of these things within two weeks (07/30/2009 - 08/13/2009): - The whole "Hammer to Anvil" XWA battle series! Maybe the best and most immersive battle saga you'll ever fly. That includes XWA-TC 8: Hammer to Anvil, XWA-TC 13: Hammer to Anvil, part II, XWA-TC 35: Hammer to Anvil, part III and XWA-TC 51: Hammer to Anvil - The Final Sacrifice. You won't ever regret this I tell you! - TIE-TC 234: Pacification. Enjoy this splendid battle by FA Dempsey and its funny number of missions! - XvT-TC 36: Operation: Dark Hammer. Then again, for those not in the mood of flying XWA and its killing capital ships' turbolaser accuracy, here you have a similar number of missions on a XvT installment. Those of ye, fool enough to fly ALL missions one of these choices contains will get an IS-BW! BUT, only one of these choices will be accepted so please save me from seeing some doofus playing XWA and TIE at the same time and asking me for two of these IS-BWs. On addition to this, those of ye skillful and lifeless enough to achieve AT LEAST 3 mission highscores on the battle/battles of his choice will get another IS-BW. And, finally, if any of you dares to achieve a new battle highscore I'll kill... (*ejem*) I'll award the madman another IS-BW. Careful maths will reveal you that's a total of 3 IS-BWs in case any of you displays such excellent level of flying skills and activity at the same time. Moreover! You're also called, my Riders, to write a nice fiction if that's your desire, portraying yer own TC characters involved on the battle of your choice. Those fictions judged worthy by The Wicked CMDR of Tempest will be awarded an IS-BR and all bollocks compilations uploaded into Tempest website as usual, of course. Let your sick and rotten imagination to fly free! :-D Aaaaaaand, to top the iceberg and send the big ship to the bottom of the ocean by the book, you're also called to draw, create, photoshop, gimp, yourverymotherwhatever... a pic, a graphic, related to these battles somehow... Or not, I really don't mind as long as it's something worthy... of another IS-BR of course! ;-) Ooooooh, and I almost forgot to say that... INGAME CHEATS ARE NOT ALLOWED on this particular competition (with the exception of XWA "Unlimited Ammo"), and trust me that I'll know if you used them looking at your pilotfiles. As well as I'll know how to torture you with grim refinement in case I catch you trying to cheat me. You can find this particular competition's database entry HERE. So you were begging for some action, didn't you? Here you go, three bags full! >:-J Oh, btw, I *REALLY* expect to see some participation on this one; forcing me to see the same participation levels as in the last two would mean your CMDR lurking around by night with an ominous CoRoneR-scalpel® and a target yet-to-be determined. There's something waiting for you... something ominous... something evil... and very VERY angry... Ok, ok, only ominous but my little digressing on Trylobite's "Clandestiny" game trailer needed to fit. ^_^u The thing is that Praetorian Squadron, "The Fire Demons", the only Elite Squadron surviving after The TIE Corps Restructure and the only Squadron to day which dared to oppose the mighty Tempest on "Fire Demons vs. Storm Riders" competition, has been finally closed by the TIE Corps Commander and all its members either reassigned into other units or retired to RSVs on their own request. Thus ends the history of one of the best Squadrons (some people would claim it was indeed the best on many aspects and who am I and my pathetic 2.5+ years in this Fleet to discuss that?) this Fleet has ever seen. Behind they leave their legend, and their elite performance, memories of a TIE Corps Golden Age now gone. And no, I'm not kidding; no matter what their activity was in their last days they were and always have been pure gold when it comes to skills and commitment to this Fleet. And now please, "Riders on the Storm", raise your lances and jars and let's have a minute of silence in behalf of "The Fire Demons". /me checks his XIX century clock... Alas! It's broken. Let's continue... :-P And now let me introduce you about the last changes on the TIE Corps Admiralty Board. These are the two high-ranking badasses you're gonna need to pay their Admiral payments no matter what you think. Write these names down properly, gentlemen, in case you need a reminder on who was who sentenced you to death in some fancy and slooooooow way: Vice Admiral Astin, whom I met first time as ISDII Subjugator Commodore, left the TIE Corps DEAN spot to take Strategic Operations Officer (SOO). He is now who approves your medals, uniforms, review your MWEs, and therefore the main responsible on how shiny your Historic Records may look, so you better start invoicing all sorts of quality-alci for him. Rear Admiral Jedi Eclipse, whom I met first time as the Professor of [DW] IWATS Course who marked my exam with a nice 100% ^_^, has taken the spot VA Astin left and is now the DEAN of IWATS, therefore being in charge of managing and overviewing all IWATS Courses AND Professors. That's what I call -climbing-. Well done! ;-) And now, it seems the same RA Eclipse mentioned above as our new DEAN has starting to restore the pending IWATS Courses that went to hell after "Kaplooey Day™". At last!! :-D Feel free to emulate our newest member, Lieutenant Pape, and do something useful with yer bryans and keyboards as Students at the IWATS Academy! Remember you can get not only the mighty title "Tempest Student of the Month" coming from this, but also as many IS-BRs as 100% scores you achieve as long as you didn't get a 100% before on a given Course. What are you waiting for? Make yerselves one of those NUTS IDlines bloated to the flag with silly syllables like XWA, XWAI, BFM and other nasties. And finally, what you have been waiting for since you were reincarnated in that standing pilot flightsuits you're always trying to convince me that actually contains your sick personas: NEW BATTLES! :-D-------- XWA-TC 57: The Draxxen by FA Anahorn Dempsey Take note that the last one is no less than the official conversion of the classic TIE battle 2 by High Admiral mBind himself! Mmmm?... What? But of course that you're supposed to fly it, dammit!! And no, the fact that it was Ender who made that one doesn't excuse you from not trying it... only from not being able to complete it, hehehehe... xD (kidding, just kidding yet again...) Last minute issue! There're rumours spreading around about Commander Polo returning to Tempest once again to provide us the gift of some NUTS activity once again (and start again with his medal-stealing behaviours :-P). Stay tuned and get ready that greek fire tank just in case. >.-)
...and there were also MWE medals awarded, epic adventures to tell, nasty and useless discussions to forget, deserved promotions, some blackmailing and all sorts of payments "under-the-table" not to mention myriads of unresolved crimes and some more promos following them in all this time... and now please try to figure out my current will to write about them and cry me a river. Thanks.
( Spoilers! Spoilers, of course. And why not? I mean, this time they could be useful to mantain morale and motivation up there among you, you lazy bags of... (*ejem*) Anyways, I've just recieved an application from a potential future Rider, currently completing her training on M/PLT Daed... on some G0d-forgotten EH training facility which coordinates you definitely NOT know and your CMDR won't provide. Find below a copy of the pic which came attached with the application.
Now what was that about some of you asking for your retirement into the Reserves again? )
First of all, my Riders! It's time to perform. It's time to increase our activity. It's time to make our uppers to realize we're not only useful, not only a cornerstone, but ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for the TIE Corps no matter the Roster configuration we may face on days ahead. Days of lazyness and playing crappy games while waiting for the next AWOL check to reply will be finally gone, and only those who are there for real, those known for being there when you need from them, only those will prevail. No, it's not that I have been seeing "Braveheart" yet again; it's only that this is... (*drumroll*) TIME FOR HARVEST! Let those who have eyes read and read carefully... For those of you still wondering... Tempest (and Wing X for that matter) MWEs from May and June have not been processed yet. And it seems we're gonna need General Domi around for this, so I respectfully ask you all to be patient on this. Rest assured to both Major Palermo and myself, not to mention our WC as soon as he's back will see for this issue to be solved ASAP. You have my word on this that you won't lose a single one of your merit medals. =) Please let me state here and now that I'm, as COOA, quite happy to see a dramatic increment on TIE Corps Multiplayer activity as of late, even if it's only coming from a handful of dedicated pilots. Know ye all that The Emperor's Hammer Strike Fleet is currently leading July's BSC XWA Week of War!! Outstanding! Sadly, there's only one of our Riders playing there and no, it's not me (I'm still trying to sell my Imp soul to The Devil for him to free me from neverending CMDR paperwork -_-u). It's... Lt. Commander Sergeyli. Yes, the same Sergeyli who is currently leading "Tempest Pilot of the Month" (look below). No, please no, don't ask;. I prefer to keep my mind as broken and hopeless as it is with no further help. But hell! It would be sooooo splendid! It would make your CMDR soooooo happy to see more of you, my minions, participating there! Please consider it, for I can assure you here and now that the pleasure of beating an human opponent on MP with XvT/XWA is something that transcends all explanations; something you won't forget easily. Yet another weekly Tempest website update, as usual. Don't forget to check the site often as one of your primary sources of useful information and bollocks of all kinds. All complaints are to be sent directly to Admiral Joey "Stryfe" Calvey, Fleet Systems (sorry, I need a break here... *ROFL* ...thanks) Engineer, with the subject: "Could you please clear for me, Sir, how did it come that being the old EH main website as bloated and bad coded as you said it was the new one rings not only a bell but the damned Big Ben for almost everybody?" And here, gentlemen, you have the current status of our 2 ongoing monthly competitions! Interesting, so far: Sergeyli flying there and a newbie taking Tempest SotM hands-down... I think I'll just get high into colourful mushrooms fun before I try to decrypt this again... Tempest Pilot of the Month - Jul '09 LCM Sergeyli - 79 missions (and Tempest Pilot of the Week on 07/20 - 07/26) <--- yes, he's still the Serg we all have come to love... Tempest Student of the Month - Jul '09 LT Chris Pape - 7 IWATS Courses!!! 0___o -THE- inhumanity... "TAC's citation hunt"? Errr... no since this competition is supposed to be finished long ago, but I decided to keep this here in order to keep you all updated on our progression when it comes to earn Battle Citations for the mighty Tempest. Now the thing is to make that big red number below to change as quickly as possible flying even Space Invaders if necessary! ;-) Oh, and if you are interested in a detailed list you have it at the end of this report, right below the Squadron Roster, merciless copied from HERE Right now we've a total of 1 new Battle Citations since we started counting here. Why so, you'll be wondering? Why so much shame on something which should be an ever-growing? Easy there: that's what you get whenever some crazy cockpit-head like our former member CM Polo departs along with his Combat Record. But don't lose your drive, my minions! Keep flying yerselves and take note that there will come a time when your own battles will be so many as to be able to mantain this number within a reasonable margin.

IV.) Do it or DO IT. Don't even dare to try! (aka. Squadron Standing Orders)
Note on order 4: if you can't actually realize this IS NOT a RL way to go you should request transfer to the Redemption or something... ¬_¬
V.) Someone flew over the Ewok's Nest (aka. CMDR's Corner)
A new day of duty begins for Tempest Squadron, "The Riders on the Storm", also named "TTCOM's Own" for some unspeakable reason involving sick behaviours towards the EH Group Command Officer in command of The TIE Corps. They have gathered on ISDII Challenge hangar access 46 to discuss some details on the last assignment they've recieved from that very TCCOM mentioned above, whom they're -supposed- to escort from here to there as if they wouldn't have anything better to do... like drink, and drink, and shoot around aimlessly, and drink again as time permits... Colonel (CoRoneR even) Zósite K. Styles holds his personal datapad while his face displays the same expression as the one you got when you realize someone whom you're supposed to respect and follow no matter what has gone NUTS beyond all hopes. Basically, the same expression his Riders use to display when HE is doing the briefing. An odd Class-C container, completely sealed and ready to dock, stands in front of them. <COL Zós> So... we're called to deliver this... thing... to our Research Facility "Ezoob" on the orbit of planet Alambic, intolerable far from Emperor's Hammer borders for some reason that not only beats me but somehow extirpates my head and kicks my ribs at the same time. <CM Clark> Funny. It's only I thought we used to have corvettes and tugs therein for these kind of things. Don't take me wrong, Sir, but... Why. On. Earth. Should. We. Have. Something. To. Do. With. That. Crap? :-P <COL Dan> Word, John. In my humble opinion there're better things to do with, you see, 4 TIE Defenders, 4 Avengers and 4 MK I. Missile Boats. Let's say... paying a visit to Corellian orbit storeyards to get some beer supplies? ^_^ <LCM Sergeyli> Let alone black market and... Colonel Zós slaps Tempest 3-2 with a wandering Ewok slave and talks again while showing his datapad screen to the rest of Tempest. There, at the bottom of the message... <COL Zós> Shut the hell up, dammit! This one comes signed by Vice Admiral Pred himself and you won't even believe this: it seems the Admiral himself will travel hidden INSIDE THE CONTAINER. Our orders is to protect it no matter what, for the Command Officer whose protection and escort is our primary duty will be there, on a secret mission which seems to need him to travel in subterfuge. <COL Trow> WHAT?! 0__o <CPT Alpha> No way... <LT Pape> Errr... I'm the most newbie around but, don't you think that's a little... ummm... unbehaving for an EH Command Officer? With all due respect and blahblahblah... :-P <LCM Nurok> Yes, I've heard our former Fleet Commander used to travel in a tug but this is way too much. <COL Zós> It's NOT our concern, Lt. Commander. We're here to follow orders and that's what we're gonna do with no further complaints. Now I want that container ready in 10 mins. and all our fighters in 15, with a full warhead ordnance on a fancy mixture of missiles and heavy babies too. If that fool derang... I mean, if the Admiral wants us to escort a silly container while he plays ping-pong against a ton of roastbeef inside that's exactly what we will do. Do ye copy that?! <Tempest-{Zós}> Yessir... No less than 5 days later Tempest Squadron and the Class-C container they carry against all common sense arrive at planet Alambic. Details of their journey will be revealed in further crazy conversations below. For the time being, Colonel Zósite asks for landing clearance on the EH research facility. <COL Zós> This is Colonel Zósite K. Styles from Tempest Squadron, Wing X, ISDII Challenge, asking for landing on platform "Ezoob". We've orders to deliver a special Class-C container on this research facility, under directives from the TIE Corps Commander himself. <"Ezoob" Control> Roger that, Colonel Styles. But... "research facility"? Hehehehehe. Sorry, Sir, I mean... uh... JUASJUASJUASJUASJUAS!!!! This is the best I've heard since that guy from the SOV asked us to make room for their ship. xD <COL Zós> What the...? Give us landing vector dammit! We have no time for your stupidity! ~>:F <"Ezoob" Control> S-Sorry, Colonel... hehehe... sure, ahmm... you're cleared to land on Hangar 6 where you'll find a whole tech team to help. Seems your starfighters are not in the best condition ever, according to our sensors. <COL Zós> If only I would tell you... And now we have our heroic Riders leaving their trusty starfighters in the capable hands of TIE Corps technicians for them to start working on the repairings. The silly Class-C container is there again, in the middle of the hangar, as a cruel witness of sorts on their last crazy assignment. They're now waiting for the Commander of this research facility to come and welcome them personally. A nearby elevator opens and here he is, but... he's not any Commander... he is... <Tempest (in full)> Vice Admiral Viper Pred?!!! 0___0u <VA Vip> Hello there, kids. ^_^ How's going? <COL Dan> But... how? <LC Murleen> When...? <CM Clark> Where...? <COL Zós> ... :-| ... <VA Vip> Hehehe, understandable. Don't panic, pilots, because I've been here for 6 days already. <COL Trow> B-but... but that's even before we left the Chal... and you... you were travelling in that container... <VA Vip> Me? Travelling in a container? Don't be silly, Colonel. I wouldn't ever do that, who do you think you're talking to? <LT Pape> But... if you were here all the time... WHO travels inside the container? <VA Vip> Nobody travels inside a container, by Palpatine's sakes. But if that thing doesn't even have a life support system installed! <LCM Sergeyli> So... Vice Admiral Pred approaches the accursed container and uses one of his electronic keycards to open it. And voilá! The thing is full to the flag with all sorts of bottles, barrels, tanks... featuring each and every colour of the rainbow in their labels. Not much people could claim to have seen a single one of those relics in their whole life, for those are clearly among the best (and expensive) liquors in the known Galaxy. <VA Vip> This is what has been travelling in the container and I think you've earned the right of being the only ones to see it before I bring them out and order them again on the myriad shelves of my personal suite, here at Platform "Ezoob", one of the best distilleries outside the Outer Rim. This is... the TIE Corps Commander's secret stash! :-D <CM Clark> Wait... you said... d-distillery?! <VA Vip> Indeed. Hehehe, I thought the name would give you a clue. <COL Zós> ...Ezoob... <VA Vip> Hehe, yes, and now you've accomplished with your duty and I'm quite satisfied with your performance, gentlemen. <LCM Nurok> But why? WHY?!! We've faced dozens of threats on our journey! We've fought against rebels, pirates, smugglers (don't even ask), separatists (although we're still trying to figure what did they want to separate), hippie pacifists, scary bald cultists of the Hare Krishna movement, kryptonians, the romulans, people who claimed to be following orders of some Captain James Hook, Fox TV broadcasters, the fan-club of The Spice Girls and also a wandering lost dude who happened to be there at the wrong time! Our wonderful starfighters are now little more than useless wreckages with no ammo and will need a full week under repairement, therefore leaving us stuck on this floating hellhole... and all for WHAT? WHAT?!!! >:___D <VA Vip> Well, sorry to hear that but... <COL Zós> WHAT?!! ~>:F <VA Vip> Well, when trying for some names to come to mind on who would be crazy and dumb enough as to think the TCCOM himself would travel on a container, "Riders on the Storm" was the answer. And then I also realized you're actually forced to escort me and you would do whatever necessary to protect that thing with your lifes. Hehe... isn't it funny? ^_^u <Tempest (in full)> ......................... <VA Vip> What? Wait, what are you going to do with that rope? I don't think we're gonna need that to start sorting out my bottles. And what about those faces summoned from the deepest abyss of mind psychosis? W-What the...? ... NO... NO!!!!! O____OU Soon afterwards... <CM Smirnoff> So, you have orders for us to carry that container into one of our AI-driven heavy lifters and "deliver" it to the nearest star orbit where we're called to throw it so mr. fussion can finish up the job. Did I understand it well, Colonel? <COL Zós> That's exactly what the TIE Corps Admiralty Board wants you to do, Commander. <CM Smirnoff> Ok, ok. I just cannot think on the reason behind all this. Should I take that thing contains class-A highly dangerous radiactive material and/or chemicals? <COL Zós> For instance. <CM Smirnoff> I see... yeah, well. It will be done as requested, Colonel. Errr... but just a little one if you don't mind: Vice Admiral Pred himself has been our guest for more than a week now, and spent all that time wandering from here to there as if he would be waiting for something or someone to arrive. Now it seems he has departed from this station, although I haven't been reported any shuttle activity as of late nor any starfighter leaving our hangars. I would understand if he just left us in disguise, for the sakes of his own security. But... with all due respect, Colonel Styles: you, as the CMDR of the Squadron which is supposed to escort him on his space travels, do you know where the hell the TCCOM went? <Class-C container> Hmmmmmmpffff... Hrrrrffffff.... Gnnnnnfxxxxxx... Bmmmmmmfffffgggghhhhhrrrr <COL Zós> ... No, Commander. Not a clue. ¬¬ VI. Anyone get the number of that donkey cart??? (aka.
