COO REPORT
COO REPORT #15
FROM: COO/RA Hawkins
DATE SUBMITTED: 9th January 2016
TALES FROM THE AGGRESSOR
THE ENDLESS IMPERIUM - PART 1

Stars hung, apparently motionless, in the emptiness. To any sentient observer, the universe stood still - unmoving. But there were none here to see the infinate emptiness and its facade of calm.

And none to see that first spark. A spark that would set a flame across the stars.

It began as a flicker. In such a sea of stars, it might have gone unnoticed, even if an observer had been there to bare witness.

Soon, even the least observant of watchers could hardly have missed it. The flicker grew to a pulsing, lashing fire. It grew still more, tendrils of energy lashing out, clawing at the fabric of the universe. Stars near the edges of the growing storm would have appeared to shift and warp, as if trying to flee from grasping fingers.

At the heart of the storm, a darkness faded into and out of perception - a hazy smudge against the swirling vortex. As the storm grew, so did the dark shape, its edges becoming more defined, if not clearer.

With a sudden burst of blue-white lightening, the storm vanished. Space was still once more. Except, for the unpresent observer, the stars had gone, obscured by something vast. It could be seen only by the 'hole' it created in the star field - an incomprehensible shape of jutting prominances and twisting valleys.

Here, at the very edge of the galaxy, the object drifted calmly. No visible light left its vast bulk. For a thing born in such chaos, it seemed oddly placid. But, as with many things, looks would prove decieving.
