Alpha Squadron Report 6
Date Submitted: September 13, 2015
From: CMDR/CM Archenksov
To: COM/HA Anahorn Dempsey

Introduction

Alright Alphas, LT Antu has proven to be a valuable addition to the squadron. I like the cut of his jib, and expect all flight members to adjust their jibs to match. And we have a returning ace, COL Rau Aznable, to reckon with. Of course, you all know that LCM Chrome has traditionally been my favorite Alpha due to his exquisite taste in bribes. This leaves me in something of a conundrum, and the only way out that I can think of is to encourage, no force you all to fight each other for my affections. To that end, I'm announcing a new competition: Alpha Dog of the Month. Each month the most impressive pilot will be heralded as Alpha Dog, and the other pilots will have to address him as "Alpha Dog! Bow-wow-wow!" Additionally, the Alpha Dog will receive the unOfficial Alpha Squadron Gold Star Sticker of Valor. Also an Iron Star or whatever.

Thanks to COM Dempsey for recommending me for a Commendation of Loyalty. I take my job of enforcing ideological purity very seriously, and will celebrate this great honor by waterboarding a Beta pilot to test for rebel sympathies.

News

First off, contratulation to Milo Antu for his promotion to LT! He's also got an XvT battle in the works, so TAC beta testers should keep and eye out for that in the coming weeks. The comatose Lord Toxicon went off to the Phoenix this week, so it's nice to see him replaced by someone with energy and enthusiasm, even if we do have to share him with law school.

LC Iceman has also returned to the cockpit following his LoA. Welcome back, sir!

And if that wasn't enough good news, Rau Aznable has joined us from the Phoenix. The geezers might remember him as Gunman. COL Aznable has served in Alpha, Beta, Phantom, and on board the MC80B Redemption as everything from a FM to a COM at various points over the last 16 years. I've no doubts that he'll be a great addition to the squadron. If we keep growing like this, we'll be in a good position to give Kappa and Sin a run for their money in RtF 2016.

We're halfway through the One Hammer comp, which is providing a nice change of pace for Hammer pilots. There are separate flying and non-flying compenent and they're pretty quick to do, so I'd like to see some strong participation from Alpha as we enter the home stretch. We are the oldest squadron, after all, so it's only natural that we should rule over our younger siblings.

I've started up a squadron competition for us now that we've recovered from the post-RtF summer funk. Basically, the top scoring non-CMDR pilot each week gets an IS-BR and the top scorer each month gets an IS-SR. How do you get points, you ask? Well:

  • 1 point for each message on the TC mailing list or TC message boards. Note that messages should contribute to the conversation and not be unintelligible gibberish or obvious attempts to troll for points.
  • 3 points for each LoC or LoS received.
  • 3 points for each mission from the compendium submitted. Battles are worth the number of missions x 3.
  • 5 points for each IS-BR or IS-BW received.
  • 5 points for each MoT-bh or completed beta testing assignment from the TAC office.
  • 10 points for each IS-SR or IS-SW received.
  • 10 points for each MoT-gh received. A MoT-rh nets you 10 points per mission in the battle.
  • 20 points for each IS-GR or IS-GW received.
  • 30 points for each IS-PR, IS-PW, or DFC received.
  • 50 points for each MoI received (half points if the recruit doesn't make it to Alpha)

tl;dr: fly, talk, make missions, and win comps. Since the competition wasn't announced until now, nobody gets an IS-BR this week; however, your activities since the beginning of the month will count towards the monthly total. I'll be tracking them here. Currently Milo Antu leads with 15 points. As a reminder, there are plenty of Iron Stars to be had from Hammer Pilot of the Month, One Hammer to Rule Them All, and TIE Corps on Recon/Patrol. Additionally, all of the SC or X-Wing series missions you fly for those count for Alpha Dog. Get to your cockpits, get chatting, and let the TC hear you howl.
