The readme for this mission has a nice background story to go with it. The actual officer briefing was adequate since this mission was a escort mission turned into an unexpected defense mission. The map briefing was sparse as well due to the mission design. The actual mission was a slow ramp up before the enemy arrives and full on chaos ensues. Dog fighting X-Wings with a few groups of defenders was fairly easy, even while playing on Hard.

Fun mission with even forces about a EHTC pilot’s first mission. Be sure to kill all the X-Wings and don’t let any escape or else you won’t qualify for the secondary and bonus objectives.

Fun mission that has you dogfighting with a ton of X-wings in a vanilla TIE interceptor. It can get a little hairy on hard difficulty but it was a good kind of challenge and I enjoyed it.

This mission provides a decent challenge after a slow start, but I wish for a pox on anyone who has 'abort' conditions for a fighter group where they will go home at 50% hull damage or similar. There is nothing more infuriating than desperately trying to catch up to some lone fighter that's been nibbled away at by your useless wingmen, firing at maximum range, possibly landing a hit just as it turns into an invincible ship once it starts the hyperspace animation... and missing out on a goal. At least it was just some bonus points this time.

Overall an easy but fun to fly free mission. Bonus goals are to protect your wingmates which die irremediably. Flying against a dozen of X-Wings in the too-wide to hit anything TIE Interceptor, is not a feat yet not a piece of cake, be warned that those guys have missiles and you don't have shields. Easy, straightforward, pure dogfighting. My kind of mission.

Not too bad, not too good mission. Just perfectly mediocre, too easy quickie. On hard difficulty it's a squad of T/Is vs squad of X-Ws. There is no immediate danger to the shuttle at all. Both the TIEs and X-Wing pilots seem too clumsy to destroy one another as well. You can possibly kill all of the X-Wings by yourself. I imagine the only danger in this mission is accidentally shooting one of the Daedalus platforms and having its AI trigger on you. Otherwise it's just a piece of cake. Okay one to fly.

Very nice mission. Could have been a bit more challenging on the harder setting but still a good mission.

Nothing special, just a nice little dogfight with a bunch of X-Wings. A welcome diversion from all those chaotic battles and missions that plague the mission compendium.

This was an excellent little mission. Straightforward and fun. It was also over a person I know, so it helped me to identify with the predicament. A fun mission to just toy around with for a few minutes. Well done.

This is a simple mission, which is not very hard even when flown on hard. However, it is a fun mission. Worth a fly, if you've got 10 minutes to spare. You ID a shuttle, then you shoot down 12 X-Wings with missiles that hyper in. It's up to the cadets in T/Is to take them down. Watch the laser accuracy on the T/I tho' :)

I thought this battle was great, it was a flat out dogfight. This is the type of stuff we need more of, the missions I see are getting too much specialization in them, I think people are forgetting the basics. Anyways, that's my social commentary, on to the real review. The concept of the mission is rather straightforward, shoot and avoid being shot. It also has an identification job in there. It's a decently well rounded dogfight mission with the only lack being more than one type of enemy fighter. However, due to the number of them, it's not enough to drag the rating down. This mission deserves this 5.

Straight Forward, challenging. Straight out of the books, illustrating that the TIE Interceptor can do what it was created to do, defeated a shielded starfighter such as the X-Wing.

A nice mission. Planned and executed finely.

The bonus objectives for finishing objectives with 50% of flight group A and B don't seem to trigger when the mission is complete. I wonder if they are somehow tied to the other hidden bonus objectives?

This mission recreates the first patrol Cadet Talons Pryde flew while on the Modified Platform Daedelus. What was to be a routine static patrol around the platform turned into an important part of his life. His fiancee-to-be was arriving in the shuttle he and his company mates were to escort to the plaform for a routine tour. When the shuttle arrived, all was quiet at first. Suddenly, a full squadron of X-wing's jumped in and took chase of the shuttle. Talons straight away attacked and Alpha patrol all but destroyed the attacking X-wings's. Talons did a remarkable job by assessing 6 kills on his own.

His performance so impressed the Princess of Dragonda that she began to express her interest in him almost immediately. He reciprocated this affection and soon asked for her hand. She graciously agreed. Their wedding date has not yet been solidified. You can bet that the Terran Forces will not sit still during the ceremony.

****Quick note: This is the first of several missions regarding the courtship and marriage of Talons and Cat. This can be considered the prelude to TC175: Escape from Coruscant. Once the entire series is complete, I am intending on releasing it as an entirely new battle with all the parts contained in it.

From the Journal of Talons Pryde...

Approximate date: 19990913...

I left the simulators after that for a little rest. I figured that I had time to do so before I continued on. It was during this time that I was called out to go on a regular patrol around the platform. An inspector or some big wig was arriving to have a look around.
'Finally', I thought, 'I get to fly in a real fighter.' I was assigned to Alpha 4 in an Interceptor. I hopped in and started everything up. I loved the feel of engines vibrating under the deck plate. I waited for the sealing hiss to sound and realized that these cockpits were not sealed and my environmental controls were actually in the suit. 'Oh boy.'
We flew in standard formation and that is the exact time that all my instruments started screaming at me. I wished for a moment that I was neuronetted into the ship to gain the information faster like I was used to in a mech. I looked carefully at the readouts. A full squadron of fighters had just arrived out of hyperspace.
"Well, does that just not [censored] the dog," I called out. "Attention unidentified fighters. State your name, rank, and unit affiliation so that Talons of the Clan may know whose blood shall stain his hands." I waited for a few moments and when no answer returned, I began hunting the poor bastards down. I, at one point, flew so close to the passenger shuttle that I could smell the [censored] that ran down the leg of the pilot. We destroyed 12 fighters that day and I received a planetary medal of commendation from the Dragonda Kingdom. Now that had a familiar ring to it. I think I knew where I had heard it before.
When I got back to my bunk, I had a message waiting for me. My estranged wife was leaving for her home. 'OK,' I thought. I turned away and walked over to the bunk and sat down. As I stripped off my dickey, my bunkmates returned from the hangar also. We popped open a couple of refreshments and started reliving the battle. At one point, we all just stopped and thought about how close we had just come to dying. Then burst out laughing because we were now something we had only heard about. We were LTS. That means "Likely to Survive". Damn, we were good.
