Of course it's a Dempsey Mission! I hadn't noticed, but now that I came out of it, it makes perfect sense. Well, it's a hard one, play it if you like. I do recommend it highly.
Nice and challenging mission for the GUN. Brutal dogfighting which only ions can save your skin. Then bombing 2 CRLs with excellent skilled gunners. A demanding assignment that will keep you on your toes, but also some minutes of pure fun. If you like GUNs, this one is probably one you can't miss.
It's a illogical, tedious, on the bringe of frustrating mission.
But it was made rather quickly for a comp, is bug free and a mission which adds up two a rating of two.
Nice mission indeed. And despite dogfighting in a GUN is not my idea of fun and happiness we musn't forget something: in XvT, using classic Imperial craft, if you want ions there it's either the GUN or the T/D, and sincerely... the T/D is almost as unfair as the MIS, at least against those poor Xs. So in the end the GUN was a wise choice IMHO. What I really didn't like from this mission is the true meaning of investigating that strange signal; usually the mission creator doesn't develop the main plot enough or subordinates it in behalf of pure action, and I think that was what happened here.
This was a well thought out mission it seemed and it was realistic. For this reason I bumped this mission up to a 3. I really did not like this mission. While the goals were obtainable etc. the one BIG thing that really got to me is that in this mission there are not usual difficulty levels. Instead they are: Medium, Hard, and EXTRA Hard. Where is Easy? Easy=Medium here. To be fair the individual who likes assault gunboats and the like and more importantly knows how to effectively use the slow little buggers against lots of x-wings with advanced missiles might say "nice mission". But i'm used to agile craft; therefore, I didn't like it. NIce plot, pretty much good everything except that if you are an average pilot or someone who hasn't been playing the game long don't expect to be able to beat this on easy without flying it like 50 times and even then you might die every time.

About this competition ---------------------- "Match the TAC" is a TAC sponsored TC wide competition for 2008. Every month, the TAC will release a free mission to fly through the TAC Office website. Your objective is to fly as close to the TAC's personal score on the mission as possible. 1st place will receive 1 point, 2nd will receive 2 points, etc. Every month, the three pilots with the closest score will win an IS-GW/SW/BW. At the end of the year, several more pilots shall be awarded: * An IS-GW/SW/BW for the top 3 pilots per platform * An IS-GW/SW/BW for the top 3 pilots overall To determine overall score, and per platform score, your total score will be divided by the number of pilotfiles submitted. This will allow pilots to join the competition at later stages, while not giving them an unfair advantage. When the competition is over, all missions will be released onto the Compendium, and all pilotfiles submitted during the competition will be BSFd for FCHG/combat credits. The competition will utilize free missions for the three flying platforms TIE, XvT and XWA (BoP is considered to be the same as XvT, so no separate missions for BoP will be used). All missions will be kept patch-free except for the EHSP. Not all missions will require the EHSP. All TIE scores will be laserless as usual.
