Not sure this battle deserved "Worst of 2005," though to be fair, I haven't flown everything that came out that year. Everything worked as intended and the missions were interesting, though the plot may have been lost if you weren't around for the old ECR comps. Overall, not bad!

Really is a painful battle despite the best intentions.
Has some great ideas but just doesn't seem to work.
Still worth flying tho as it is still fun at times.

Mmmmm... sorry but THIS is not a battle, it's a scoring orgy. I won't say I didn't have my funny time going against, let's see... about 100 X-Wings and A-Wings on a shieldless T/I (true story) but I think the appropiate word for this battle is 'Mess'.

First of all, sick number of craft, maybe more than a single starship would be able to hangar. Then comes the second mission and the possibility of vaping opponent's targets to make your score going skyrocket for they were not friendly craft yet they still count as your team's loses on debriefing (besides, your opponent T/D shows up an excellent performance as he sees all a challenge to catch a few X-Wings in 5 minutes). Additionally, target spawning lacks from any organization and you'll find yourself waiting for your next wave while your opponent is still trying to deal with a lonely B-Wing or something. The third mission features a bug involving a CRS and 2 VSDs, no less, with starfighter orders medical condition that will trample you unless you're flying 5 clicks+ away, and you better be on your toes because they won't hesitate chasing you to hell (obviously this is a bug and it's been reported). Finally, mission 4 comes as yet another scoring fest with a CRS providing wave after wave of endless enemy fighters while the entire TCBG waits Palpatine knows what to give a hand until you've destroyed the Calamari heressy.

I'm giving this one a 3 because it was funny as hell and also because I consider that Mission 3 bug will be eventually fixed. A few less design flaws and it'd be a 4 for an excellent training exercise.

The first 3 missions were great, the 4th was a bit of a letdown, due to you being very unable to do much. I also had to play it several times, because sometimes one of the enemy VSD didn't show, or one of the friendly ISD didn't (craft limit?)

Designed of this battle tried to put ECR competition into TIE battle. I don't think it's possible at all. Missions are simple, without anything fancy, or at least something intresting. Both general idea and creation are mediocre.

I believe that the final mission could be improved with the addition of a warhead reload vehicle. It's not very satisfing to only destroy the CRS and one other capital ship and then have to watch as the ISDs (which cause choppiness since they're so close together) destroy the rest of the fleet. Other than that, an enjoyable mission.

ECR IV was one of my favourites, since it focused almost completely on flying. I flew the XWA missions back then, which most ppl I talked to didn't like. Sadly, there wasn't much improvement in the TIE ones. I hated the third mission, I can only guess what kind of pleasure the mission creator takes from having capital ships pursuing him like fighters (even unarmed ones) when he's flying a Tie with no shields, after he took out a minefield. I think the fighter spawning in mission 2 was not very organized, and it could be a lot more simple. I give it a two because missions 1 and 4 are good.

A bit boring, but it was bugless from the start, which I like. Excellent work Locke.

Battle Bug Reports

On this mission CRS "Surge" and both VSDs "Hope" indeed have starfighter orders: to ATTACK YOU! Those mammoths will chase you everywhere maneuvering like hysteric chickens and if you're crazy enough as to fly near them chances are that they'll crush you just by trampling. Come on, Locke! I'm pretty sure you did this ON PURPOSE!! >:P
