Well, it breaks Locke's Number #1 rule of X-Wing Mission Design, which is to never, ever, ever, ever make Death Star missions. And if you are going to do it, please, please, pretty please with all the cherries on top, do not use the Destroy All Turrets mission goal. And, uh, please don't do it more than once... The first two missions are great, the next two are Destroy All Turrets Death Star missions. Most pilots will not realize they only need to clear the turrets between the two sets of containers because 1) they don't remember doing this in X-Wing (or never did), and 2) if they do, they were counting on a Nav Bouy to show them the middle point and it's not there. I don't know why good X-Wing designers decide they can make a good Death Star mission. It can't be done! We all need to let it go and move on! Never again!

Well, this battle features the worst possible mission of original X-Wing... Twice. On top of needing to destroy a certain number of laser towers in a radius around the starting zone the nav buoy present in the original mission was removed. This makes it even more difficult to navigate around. Even if you know what you are doing, these missions take around 30 min each. Which is completely uneccessary for what they actualy present. One point for effort on the other two though.

ARG!!! thats all i can say, in the last 2 missions, u have to clear out the laser turrets....make sure u have half a day spare to fly this one, you have to do well over 250 turrets per mission!!!!

I mission 4 it appears some of the containers are below the death star surface, making them impossible to destroy. Played on Steam version of X-Wing remastered.

Installation:
----------------------
note: the original mission files will be overwritten, back up any files with the same names.

X-Wing CD Installation:
1. Download and install XCD from the SCO Site (http://sco.minos.net), files archive, the edittors section. (6k.) This will let you run custom missions. There is a full guide available at the SCO site as well.
2. Put the *.BRF and *.XWI files in your new "C:\Mission" folder and use XCD to start X-Wing CD. Create a new pilot based on your pin and the battle's type and name. For example: 2883tc01.plt if I would be flying the first XW-TC battle.
3. Fly the first 4 "Historical Combat" missions for the "X-Wing".

X-Wing 95/Disk Installation:
1. Run full install of the game so the mission files will be on your hard drive. The game will take it's mission information by preference from the harddisc, but might still give a warning. In that case - Ignore.
2. Locate your X-W Directory and open the folder labeled "Mission", or "Classic" in X-W95. Copy the *.xwi, *.brf files of this custom battle into it.
3. Create a new pilot based on your pin and the battle's type and name. For example: 2883tc01.plt if I would be flying the first XW-TC battle.
3. Fly the first 4 "Historical Combat" missions for the "X-Wing".

NOTE
-------------------
1. You need X-W CD or '95, as far as i know no other patches are needed. I cannot assure it will run on X-W disk as it might exceed its maximum craft amounts. You'd need the B-Wing and Imperial Pursuit add-ons to play.

Description
-----------
This battle is part of a series of free missions and now battles about each of the squadrons in the ASF doing missions following their squadron objective in their assigned craft. Each mission tries to give a feel and a bit of history of each of the Squadrons. All the storylines of the missions are interconnected and have the ASF Squadron join together against a common foe. In timeline this battle takes place just after the free missions.

Part 3 of a Trilogy about Intruder Squadron.

Story Line
----------

MISSION 1: "The captives we caught from that last convoy we intercepted told us that the Genkoans now want to renegotiate their deal with the NR Spine Security Force. After all: Our attacks of late have increased the risk they are running in the deal. They were also able to tell us where this meeting will take place.
The plan is to scare the Genkoans into a retreat back to wherever they are producing the warheads. To accomplish this task we will strike at the ship where the meeting is held and let the others escape while we trace their hyperspace paths. The rebel forces that are around you can either ignore or destroy."

MISSION 2: "We traced the hyperspace jump paths of the Genkoan ships to this gap in their (mine-based) border defences. Apparently they use the gap themselves to smuggle these warheads to the NR-SSF. We want to get our current base of operations, the FRG Ratchet, on the other side of the border so we can continue our mission.
In the last few days we learned a lot more about the deal the Genkoans and the NR-SSF made. Apparently the Genkoans allowed the NR-SSF to build a weapons factory on one of the moons of Genko IX, out of view from any scrutiny from the EH or Coruscant. The NR-SSF build its own warheads, but then has them transported out by the Genkoans... to the NR-SSF territories.
We don't know what the Genkoans are getting out of this deal, but most likely they are just getting paid very well... just not enough now that we've been going after them - something which sparked that last meeting. On this mission - do not let any of the command shuttles that escaped the last engagement survive. We do not want them to warn the factories that we're coming."

MISSION 3: "We've finally arrived at the Moon of Genko IX that the Genkoans apparently rented out to the New Republic for warhead production. The Moon is covered with large industrial complexes, most of which seem to be civilian, but we have a very good idea where the warhead factory must be. Your mission is to confirm this data.
The FRG Wrench and the rest of Intruder Squadron have taken cover in the asteroid field of one of Genko IX's La Grange Points, which should provide an excellent base of operations. Since we're deep in enemy territory we want to avoid getting local attention until we're ready to attack.
Please be advised that Planetary Assault is quite different from an attack on a Cruiser for example. Basically the enemy has near limitless resources on the spot, which generally translates into swarms of fighters and ground based defences. Also try not to crash into the surface, its quite immobile."

MISSION 4: "Flight 3 confirmed our data on the location of the warhead factory but their reconnaissance run also showed that the surface of the moon is littered with gun turrets. As such we are not going to bring in the FRG Wrench but will attempt to destroy all the buildings with our B-Wings.
The factory is spread out over a large area, with various tunnels interconnecting the various parts. Its well defended with turrets on several of the buildings, ground based anti-spacecraft turrets and a well organized fighter cover. Flight 1 will have to concentrate on the armed buildings first.
Destroy all the factory buildings and then return to the FRG Wrench so we can get out of this neighbourhood. We have already alerted the Genko System Defence Force and they will not take very long in arriving with several cruisers - perhaps accompanied by New Republic forces as well."

(Note: In testing I took 45 minutes on mission #3 and #4 each and had to destroy 267 buildings!)
