Wing II Commander's Escort Flight

Competition ID #: 2973
Status: Finished
Submitted by: HA Plif
Competition dates: 2018-01-01 - 2018-12-31
Subgroup: TIE Corps
Units involved: Wing II
Description:

GN Frown wants to recognize the pilots that pay the most attention to his pre-flight briefings and successfully complete the most missions! While Frown hardly has any need to leave the ship, he's been told that naming pilots to an "escort flight" is one way to acknowledge their status, so he's asked to have those pilots called out in each Warrior Report.

== OBJECTIVE ==

Each month, complete enough SP missions to place in the top four from Wing II.

== AWARDS ==

Each month a pilot is in the top four, they're awarded one point. Each point results in the pilot being awarded an Iron Star based on how many points they have:

  • Points 1 and 2: IS-BW
  • Point 3: IS-SW
  • Points 4 and 5: IS-BW
  • Point 6: IS-SW
  • Points 7 and 8: IS-BW
  • Point 9: IS-SW
  • Points 10 and 11: IS-BW
  • Point 12: IS-GW
In the event that two pilots are tied for the same number of missions, the tie will be broken by calculating each pilot's average score compared to the high scores for the missions they flew. The pilot with the higher average will keep their current position and the other will be placed one position lower.
Competition awards:

IS-BW/SW/GW at various intervals as described below

Competition runtime starts on the first day at 00:00:01 UTC, and ends on the last day at 23:59:59 UTC.

IS-SW GN Earnim Branet COL Branet was one of the Warrior's top four pilots in December and will continue to be a member of my escort flight. His dedication to my safety and the safety of my briefing room are nothing less than admirable! 2019-01-09
IS-SW FA Pickled Yoda GN Pickled Yoda crept back into the top four pilots from the Warrior during December with three missions flown. Two of them don't really count because he'd already flown them earlier in the year, so make that one mission flown. I got called away from my briefing room for this? Ugh. 2019-01-09
IS-SW LC Rando CPT Rando has been a member of my escort flight for a ninth month now, having been one of the Warrior's top pilots in October. As a result, he's also one of the top briefing attendees and I like to this this medal is actually for that instead. 2018-11-21
IS-SW GN Mark Schueler GN Mark Schueler appeared on my list of the top pilots from the Warrior for September as well, making it his sixth month as part of my Escort Flight. After all of my superb briefings leading to the capture or destruction of all the hostile forces in our part of space, I'm surprised that the General keeps finding new ones to go out and shoot at, but that's exactly what keeps happening. Maybe we're missing something. Whoever earns himself disciplinary action next is getting sent on the longest, loneliest recon mission I've ever drawn up. 2018-10-31
IS-SW GN Earnim Branet Like many of the months before it, COL Earnim Branet was among the top four pilots from the Warrior in September. Fine work, Colonel, I'll let you know the next time I need my Escort Flight to -- I couldn't even finish saying it. I'll see you in the briefing room. 2018-10-31
IS-SW LC Rando CPT Rando is on my list of the top SP pilots from the Warrior for July, and by my count this is the sixth time he's earned a position on my Escort Flight. I have a begrudging respect for pilots that find their way to the top of the list because of all the ways to contribute to fleet operations, being listed positively on a report is a close second to generating the report itself. 2018-08-20
IS-SW AD Hav Antiel LC Hav Antiel defied the odds once more and survived another month as one of the top pilots in Wing II for June. I've come to begrudgingly respect his attention to my briefings, which are surely the only things keeping him out of an early grave. 2018-07-16
IS-SW GN Mark Schueler Another General with an awkward devotion to risking his own skin instead of leaving that to our greener pilots, Mark Schueler finished June in the top four pilots from Wing II for the month. This is now his third month as a member of my escort squadron, almost entirely indistinguishable from the first as of course I never leave the briefing room much less the ship. 2018-07-16
IS-SW MAJ Aldaric CPT Aldaric has earned a third month as a member of my escort flight by posting one of the top four mission totals from Wing II for June. As the Captain is aware by this point, being a member of my escort flight means very little because I do everything I can never to leave the briefing room out of a remarkable and underappreciated dedication to my craft. Still, I applaud the Captain's efforts to be by my side in case I ever have need of him. 2018-07-16
IS-SW GN Earnim Branet I thought I'd gotten through to LC Earnim Branet when he wasn't on my list the last couple of months, but then he reappeared in May. There must be some sort of external influence going on here, I'll have to find out who's responsible. 2018-06-18
IS-SW FA Pickled Yoda Despite my best efforts to keep him firmly grounded, GN Pickled Yoda managed to find a way to fly the Wing's second most SP missions during March. He's been in the top four offenders three times now, a callous display of his indifference to the plight of our limited resources and hard-working maintenance technicians. And from a General, no less! I'd expect such behavior from a hotshot Commander or maybe even a Captain, but a General should be far beyond such juvenile adventure seeking. Generals are supposed to appreciate the finer things in life: reports, paperwork, evaluations, and more reports. 2018-04-15
IS-SW AD Hav Antiel 'The flagrant disregard that LC Hav Antiel shows for my concerns about the safety of the Wing's fighters has gone too far! Despite my clear orders to the contrary, he continues to override my lockdown on cockpit controls, convince the maintenance crews that he's received orders to depart, and claim that the Commodore not only sanctions his actions but has seen fit to award him medals for his 'bravery'. This brazen disobedience must be stopped at once!' Note from the Commodore: I received this as an official reprimand from GN Frown, but I'm turning it into the medal recommendation for LC Antiel's third month in the top four SP pilots from Wing II because Frown's words only prove how far Hav is willing to go to get the job done. Couldn't be prouder of you, LC! 2018-04-15
IS-SW LC Rando I was astonished to see a CM Panda on the list of top SP pilots for March because I didn't think a panda would have any affinity for piloting a starfighter. But then I realized I was being silly; there's no way a panda would fit into any of our flight suits. Further, I actually have no idea what a panda is. I looked again and the name was actually Rando, of whom I have no memory whatsoever. Someone needs to do a better job of introducing these new pilots to me then they come aboard. 2018-04-15
IS-BW CPT SL8c8 I turned in my last datapad to maintenance because there was a glitch in the results for last month's competitions, but I'm seeing that same garbage text in the newest list of the top Warrior pilots. And now I'm being told that there was nothing wrong with that pad because that's a pilot's name? I just don't understand why people find these shenanigans amusing. 2019-01-09
IS-BW LC Rando CPT Rando's a great pilot, something something outstanding effort, something something example to everyone, et cetera et cetera et cetera. Next. 2019-01-09
IS-BW FA Pickled Yoda October was the fifth month that GN Pickled Yoda has earned the honor of being a member of my escort flight. He'd spent a few months off the list, but then here we are again. I'd tell him to get a job, but I was reminded that this is, in fact, his job here. So... carry on, I suppose. 2018-11-21
IS-BW GN Earnim Branet COL Earnim Branet continued a history of being one of the Warrior's top pilots by being in the top four again for October, earning a seventh month in my illustrious escort flight. It might be more of an escort sit or escort stand at attention since I never leave the briefing room, but in any case, I appreciate his dedication to keeping me and my briefing room safe from harm. 2018-11-21
IS-BW GN Ric Hunter Another General appeared on the list of top SP pilots from the Warrior for October. I can only wonder at what compels an officer at that level to take on the enemy directly instead of training and instructing more expendable personnel to perform these mundane tasks. There's no higher pursuit than the formulation of battle plans and the overseeing of their execution from a position far removed of the drudgery of the combat itself. 2018-11-21
IS-BW LC Rando Once again, CPT Rando was one of the Warrior's top pilots in September. His tenacity is quite impressive, I have to give him that. It still pales in comparison to the effort I put into each and every briefing I give, but it's still something. 2018-10-31
IS-BW GN Earnim Branet COL Earnim Branet was once again on my list of the top pilots from the Warrior for August, confirming my theory that despite all the medals he's being awarded from other competitions, it's mine that's his biggest motivation to keep moving forward. 2018-10-31
IS-BW MAJ Aldaric Back in August when he was still a Captain, Major Aldaric was one of the four top SP pilots from the Warrior for the month. As such, he earned another small token of my appreciation and continued to be a member of my Escort Squadron, despite all his complaints about his assigned cot in the briefing room the month prior. 2018-10-31
IS-BW LC Rando I was reminded that I hadn't yet recognized CPT Rando for being one of the Warrior's most prolific SP pilots during August, a repeat of many similar months of combat he's undertaken. With that out of the way, that'll be all for now, Captain. 2018-10-31
IS-BW GN Mark Schueler General Schueler continued to join the fray personally over the course of August, which I still don't quite understand but it did mean that he was in the briefing room quite often to see and hear my work first-hand. That should be reward enough, really, but I was reminded that we also give out a medal. Consider yourself doubly blessed! 2018-10-31
IS-BW GN Earnim Branet At the end of my list of the top four SP pilots from Wing II for July sits LC Earnim Branet. While I still don't see the need to have a personal escort, I appreciate that Branet goes out of his way to make sure he's part of it. That's the only reason you'd fly that many missions, right? 2018-08-20
IS-BW MAJ Aldaric CPT Aldaric made his way onto the list of the top SP pilots from Wing II for July. This month, I'm instituting a new expectation for the members of my Escort Flight. Since I never leave the briefing room and my escorts have to guard me wherever I am, they'll have to be in the briefing room anytime I'm in the briefing room. But they'll have to set up their own cot, the one behind the podium is mine and only I can use it. 2018-08-20
IS-BW GN Mark Schueler GN Mark Schueler has finished another month in the top four SP pilots from the Warrior, having actually posted the highest number of sorties from the entire fleet. I still can't grasp the thought of willingly exposing yourself to enemy fire as a General, but I suppose as long as he keeps coming back in the same fighter he left in, there's no harm to the budget and thus no reason to suggest disciplinary action. 2018-08-20
IS-BW FA Pickled Yoda After tallying the numbers from June and the Raise the Flag exercise, GN Pickled Yoda appeared at the top of my list of pilots with the most mission completions from Wing II. I still don't understand why a General would value direct participation over sending out younger and far more expendable pilots, but that might be why I've maintained an exceptional level of health and vigor and Pickled Yoda looks more like a shriveled green... whatever. 2018-07-16
IS-BW AD Hav Antiel Somehow, LC Hav Antiel is on my list of top pilots for the Warrior for the fifth month in a row despite my best efforts to have him grounded. Maybe I've been looking at this the wrong way. The sooner he flies off, makes a mistake, and doesn't come back, the sooner he'll be replaced on my report by someone else. Yes... I think that might just work. 2018-06-18
IS-BW LC Rando CPT Rando continued his flying efforts and was one of the four winningest pilots aboard the Warrior for May. Congratulations once again, Captain. 2018-06-18
IS-BW MAJ Aldaric The numbers show that CM Aldaric was the most active pilot on the Warrior during May. It's unusual to see a pilot from Kappa on the list, let alone twice, so I was planning on remarking on the discipline that's finally been instilled in the squadron. But then I remembered that the Commander was just recently transferred to Kappa from elsewhere in the fleet, and that explained everything. 2018-06-18
IS-BW LC Rando I've been reminded that I owe CPT Rando an award recommendation from April when he placed in the top four most active pilots on the Warrior. Well done, Captain. 2018-06-18
IS-BW AD Hav Antiel LC Hav Antiel once again appeared on my list of top pilots from the Warrior for April. I remembered filing a complaint about this with the Commodore, but now I see that he's seen fit to use it as a medal recommendation just to mock me. Typical. 2018-06-18
IS-BW CM Jack Wynand One of our newest pilots placed among the top pilots on the Warrior this past April, which I can only assume is the result of him paying close attention to my excellent briefings. 2018-06-18
IS-BW MAJ Aldaric I was taken aback when the readout showed that someone transferred from the Hammer and immediately became the top pilots aboard the Warrior in April. I couldn't believe it so much that I put the datapad down and went back to my briefings. After taking some time to reflect and gather my thoughts, I'm finally ready to write the recommendations. Congratulations, Commander. 2018-06-18
IS-BW GN Mark Schueler COL Mark Schueler is on my list of the top four SP pilots from the Wing during March. Hooray. 2018-04-15
IS-BW GN Earnim Branet LC Earnim Branet is on my list of active pilots from February, like he was the month prior. I appreciate that he's attempting to earn my regards, but I must insist that he simply attend my briefings and then say complementary things about them to the other pilots. Unlike risking the safety of an actual fighter, recognizing my superbly intricate analysis of a theoretical battlefield would be a much better use of his time. 2018-03-08
IS-BW FA Pickled Yoda After crunching the numbers in the unfortunately-named 'tiebreaker', GN Pickled Yoda earned the last position in my Escort Flight for February. This is not a way to recognize their efforts or honor their contributions, mind you, it's a way to identify the pilots that pose the highest risk of inflating our already staggering maintenance and fuel costs. I'll be assigning them extra vacuum exposure training sessions and flight training exercises with the cadets, anything to keep them occupied and out of any unnecessary combat engagements. 2018-03-08
IS-BW LC Rando On the list I received of the most active pilots during February, there was one pilot whose name I didn't recognize. I thought for sure there'd been some mistake, but I was assured that CM Mando was assigned to my Wing. And then I was told that I'd made a mistake and his name is Lando, not Mando, and that we'd had this very same discussion last month. Whatever his name is, I'm sure he'll be happy to know that he's earned my attention, however briefly. 2018-03-08
IS-BW AD Hav Antiel I lament that LC Hav Antiel has once again appeared atop the list of pilots that have knowingly endangered our fighters. My briefings are intended to demonstrate how an engagement should play out when properly executed, not encourage a pilot to callously expose a ship to enemy fire. What if a hull had been damaged or a cannon become warped from overheating? Won't somebody please think of the TIEs? 2018-03-08
IS-BW GN Earnim Branet I never agreed to have an Escort Flight formed in my name, but rather than take it out on the pilots I decided to review the statistics and I agree that LC Earnim Branet was the second most adequate pilot in the Wing during January. He'll be invited to guard me whenever I leave... but of course I never leave my briefing room let alone the ship, so I wouldn't count on receiving any invitations anytime soon. 2018-02-17
IS-BW LC Rando With how many pilots cycle in and out of the Wing, I generally don't bother learning a pilot's name until they've done something noteworthy. On the occasion of earning the third position in my Escort Squadron during January, I'm now aware of CM Ronto and -- oh, it's Ranto? Rando. I'm sure I'll get that right eventually. 2018-02-17
IS-BW FA Pickled Yoda Like I've come to expect from any pilot in Theta Squadron, GN Pickled Yoda did the bare minimum in order to earn a spot in the Escort Flight that I never asked for. While his efforts in January were adequate, I hope that he'll make more of an effort to impress me next time. 2018-02-17
IS-BW GN Mark Schueler The last of the pilots I have to recognize for the Escort Flight I've told the Commodore over and over again that I have no need for, COL Mark Schueler tied for the fourth position in January. While I'm pleased that one of my briefings led to a successful mission, I'm dismayed that the Colonel put one of our precious fighters in harm's way to do it. Fortunately, these cancel each other out and leave me with my usual lack of concern either way. 2018-02-17
IS-BW AD Hav Antiel The Commodore saw fit to start an Escort Flight competition in my name when he thought I wasn't paying attention. But after reviewing the readouts I was given, I'm pleased to note that LC Hav Antiel was the most adequate pilot in the Wing during January and I'll be happy to have him flying in formation behind my shuttle. Which will be never because I don't know what those uncultured hooligans would do to my precious briefing room if I ever left it. 2018-02-17
